Robert Motherwell's Master Printer to Give Lecture at Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC
In a co-operative effort between the Mint Museum of Art and Jerald Melberg Gallery, Robert Motherwell's Master Printer, Catherine Mosley, will come to Charlotte, NC, on June 19, 2003 to give a lecture.
From 1973 to 1991, Catherine Mosley was Master Printer of Robert Motherwell Editions in Greenwich, Connecticut. In a lecture titled The Artist-Printer Collaboration, Mosley will discuss printmaking and the collaboration between Robert Motherwell and herself. Referencing works in the current exhibition at the Jerald Melberg Gallery, Mosley will also explain the various printing techniques used, such as etching and aquatint. Motherwell enjoyed the collaboration involved in printmaking. Regarding the printers he worked with and had great respect for, Motherwell wrote, "To work with such craftsmen has been a joy and a welcome break from the essential solitude in which an artist works."
The lecture will be at 7pm on Thur., June 19, at the Mint Museum of Art on Randolph Road in the Van Every Forum. Attendees are invited to Jerald Melberg Gallery immediately following the lecture to view works by Robert Motherwell.
