The Link Between Science and Music Is Explored At The Natural Science Center's Mostly Music Exhibit in Greensboro, NC

Have you ever wondered how music is really made? Discover the science behind the music in a fun, interactive way at the Mostly Music exhibit at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro, NC! Mostly Music, a 6,000 square foot traveling exhibit developed by the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, Washington, will be at the Natural Science Center through Sept. 1, 2003.

As visitors enter Mostly Music, the entertainment begins by walking across a floor piano keyboard! After that, many thrilling opportunities await. Stand inside a giant 14-ft. guitar and learn how the vibration of the strings creates music. Play an instrument without ever touching it! Produce a musical masterpiece with instruments you select to mix. Mimic the dance moves of the "United Dancer." Sing as loud as the heart desires in the soundproof karaoke booth. These music devices and countless others make up the excitement of Mostly Music.

Mostly Music is divided into four areas: Center Stage, Music Lab, World Club, and The Conservatory. Center Stage is the place for creating music. Music Lab allows visitors to explore the physics behind the music. World Club explains how music enriches history and affects our daily lives. The Conservatory teaches about instrument families and music composition in a quiet, classical setting. These areas will be fun for the young and old alike!

On another musical note, The Natural Science Center of Greensboro has partnered with The Music Academy of North Carolina to further educate about music and entertain visitors to the Mostly Music exhibit. Special music classes taught by The Music Academy of North Carolina's faculty will be held at the museum this summer for various age groups. In addition, students from The Music Academy of North Carolina will be doing recitals and individual performances for our visitors' enjoyment during the exhibit's stay at the Natural Science Center. The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro has awarded a grant to the Natural Science Center for the Mostly Music exhibit to assist in funding these educational and entertaining activities.

The Natural Science Center of Greensboro, located at 4301 Lawndale Drive in Greensboro, NC, is open Mon. - Sat., 9 am -5pm and Sun. 12:30pm - 5pm. Admission is $6/adults, $5/children & seniors, and under age 2 free.
