Smith-Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Hosts Book Signing for Tom Blagden, Jr.
Not only is Smith-Killian
Fine Art proud to represent one of America's finest photographers,
Tom Blagden, Jr., we are privileged to announce the publication
of his newest book, First Light: Acadia National Park
and Maine's Mount Desert Island. Smith-Killian
Fine Art will be hosting a book signing in honor of this amazing
achievement in landscape photography on June 14, 2003, from 3pm
until 5pm, at the gallery in downtown Charleston, SC.
Blagden's fifth book of fine art photography portrays the vibrant
imagery of the first glimpse of the morning sun to be seen on
the Atlantic Coast. In the preface, Blagden speaks on the
symbiotic prose available to the intimate onlooker of these nascent
rays of light: "If we look and listen to this dialogue of
first light, the land will impart a wisdom of its own and reveal
Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park for what they are: a
true sanctuary of the spirit. This domain asks of us a union
in stewardship, a bond of trust. It asks us to continue to
communicate with the landscape, to honor its character, and, as
in any meaningful relationship, to not leave things unsaid and
acts undone." The book's narrative, written by Charles Tyson,
allows the viewer of the images a glimpse into local life - including
the struggle to keep the park in its pristine condition.
First Light: Acadia National Park and Maine's Mount Desert
Island will be available for purchase at the gallery.
