Vadim Bora Gallery in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Nikolai Glukhov
The Vadim Bora Gallery in downtown Asheville, NC, presents its first guest artist, Nikolai Glukhov, of St. Petersburg, Russia, in the exhibition Nikolai Glukhov: Celebrating 300 Years of St. Petersburg in Etchings, Oils, and Monotypes, on view through July 30, 2003.
A true successor of the traditions of the realist school of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Nikolai Glukhov reveals over 100 finely detailed etchings and monotypes of traditional Russian country scenes, intriguing cityscapes, and inspired dreamscapes. Glukhov's works in this exhibition include a variety of media - etchings, monotypes, watercolors, and oils. The exhibition coincides with the 300-year anniversary of St. Petersburg.
Originally from the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia, Glukhov attended the Mukhina Academy of Arts and the Repin Institute of Arts in St. Petersburg. He has exhibited in Russia, Britain, and Germany. This is his first major exhibition in the United States. Glukhov spent a month in Asheville and Black Mountain this past Dec.
International sculptor
and painter Vadim Bora, also a student of the St. Petersburg School,
will present his own oils in the downtown Asheville gallery, which
is a base for exhibiting works from professional artists from
underrepresented regions around the world - such as areas of the
former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Americas.
