City Gallery in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Lynne Hardwick
The City Gallery at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibition, One Woman's Journey, featuring works of acrylic on canvas by Summerville, SC, artist Lynne Hardwick. The exhibit will be on view from June 17 through July 16, 2004.
Hardwick's passion for studying art started in the early sixties and she spent every spare minute exploring museums in Europe and the United States. She started painting earnestly in 1973. Since then, she has studied with a multitude of teachers. In 2000, Hardwick spent 14 weeks with international instructors - four weeks in Ireland, four weeks in Italy and six weeks with world-renowned instructors at Springmaid Beach workshops, which she attends six weeks annually. She has been featured in several galleries in the southeast as well as many exhibitions.
Hardwick comments on her work: "My work is an intuitive and personal journey built symbolically by life, travel study and the pure joy of living these experiences".
The City Gallery, established by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in 1978, is located in the historic Dock Street Theatre. The City Gallery's mission is to exhibit the work of visual artists from the tri-county area, especially those engaged in serious contemporary and experimental work.
Annual selections for City Gallery at the Dock Street Theatre exhibits are made in November each year. Artists interested in applying to the 2005 schedule should contact the Office of Cultural Affairs no later than Oct. 31, 2004.
