Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Ruth Ilg

Abstractions, a Visual Exploration of the Imaginary
, an exhibit of new paintings by Asheville artist Ruth Ilg will be on display June 1 - 30, 2005.

Ilg, a native of Germany, lives and works in Asheville. She has studied with renowned artist in Europe and the US, resulting in a continuing desire to work within a wide spectrum of techniques, styles, media and themes. She says of this exhibit, "To create these paintings I ventured beyond what the external eye perceives by taking a journey guided solely by imagination - the realm of the heart's inner eye. This intuitive process, based primarily on the interaction of color, form and texture, opened a path for my emotions to surface by creating a visual dialogue with thoughts, memories, and dream images."
