Red Piano Gallery on Hilton Head Island, SC, Offers Works by Ed Griffith
The
Red Piano Art Gallery on Hilton Head Island, SC, will feature
recent works by North Carolina artist, Ed Griffith, the entire
month of June 2005.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in design, Griffith has been a graphic designer
and illustrator since 1956, working throughout the United States
and in over twenty foreign countries. Since 1997, Griffith has
devoted his energies to fine art, especially scenes of coastal
Carolina, and is a participating Artist Member of the American
Society of Marine Artists.
An artist who combines the natural and man-made scenery of the
Carolina coast in a realistic style, capturing the merging impressions
of past and present that are so unique to this part of the country,
Griffith's paintings have been juried into the American Society
of Marine Artists National Shows, the Robert Ruark Invitational,
and the Southeast North Carolina Invitational shows. Among the
most recent awards received is the Mystic Seaport Museum Purchase
Award at the 1998 International Marine Art Exhibition in
Mystic Seaport, CT, where his painting, Inner Harbor, was
added to the Museum's permanent collection.
Griffith's recent paintings include a series
of work-boats and freighters that are so integral to the economy
of Carolina ports. Also featured will be tall ships, small, pleasure
sailing vessels and coastal landscapes that feature historic Carolina
lighthouses.
