June Issue 2005
The West End Gallery in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Henry Asencio
The West End Gallery in Greenville, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Appassionata, featuring new work by Henry Asencio, on view through June 16, 2005.
Asencio has emerged as one of the most intriguing
young artists working today. Talented and expressive, his work
blends the classical ideals of figurative painting with a unique,
contemporary style. He has won the hearts of many with his special
style of figurative painting. Asencio's focus is the figure, but
just as much, the human. Men and women alike are drawn to his
work for its color and its humanity. One can feel the person within
each subject.
The artist states, "Painting for me is very cathartic and
is the most articulate way for me to express my passion and inner
dialogue." Merging introspection and visual spectacle, Asencio's
personal investigations of femininity, spirituality and abstraction
possess the power to transform today's ideals of elegance and
contemporary sensuality. Asencio's pieces convey thought. Not
just the artist's ideas imposed on the model, but quite brilliantly,
the model's own introspection. His subjects are alive, human and
real.
Asencio layers strong color and brushwork all
around giving the work an energy and emotion that is breathtaking!
It is art to be experienced.
Appassionata, presented by The West End Gallery will
be the best representation of new and original work for the artist
anywhere in the world. These brand new pieces are rumored to be
some of his best work yet. Many of the works have already been
selected to appear in his upcoming book.
