Carol McGill Fine Art Gallery Opens in Charleston, SC

Award winning Lowcountry artist, Carol McGill, opens her own gallery, Carol McGill Fine Art Gallery, at 1 1/2 Broad Street in downtown Charleston, SC.

One part realism, one part abstract, some landscapes, some geometric shapes, all COLOR. Walking into this new gallery is a sensual experience; forget the subtle shades that have been the staple of the fine art scene in Charleston. Get ready to enjoy an explosion of light and a feeling of excitement as you take in what this new gallery has to offer. After chasing McGill's works from gallery to gallery over the years, it is wonderful for her followers and patrons to have her expansive body of work in one location.

This spectacular artist has been featured in multiple magazines including Better Homes & Gardens, Charleston Home, and Atlanta Home Magazine. Other honors include winner from the Mountains to the Sea at the Charleston Aquarium in Sept. 2005 and winner and featured artist of the Cooper River Bridge Run Design Competition in 2005.

McGill invites everyone to experience her en plein air technique. The en plein air technique, which essentially means that all of her work is done on location with the subject, forces an artist to paint quickly because light and shadow change from hour to hour. This method allows her to step away from realism and take you to the essence of the subject. Through the fluid brush stroke and use of the palette knife, McGill creates a unique movement and rhythm to her work. Using a full range of vibrant colors, she captures the essences of the marshes, mountains, bridges and vineyards.
