City of North Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Hugh O'Connor
The North Charleston City Gallery, located
at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and Charleston
Area Convention Center in North Charleston, SC, will be exhibiting
original works by Hugh O'Connor, from June 1 - 30, 2006.
O'Connor, a resident of Hilton Head, SC, has been experimenting
with photography since 1975. Recent developments in digital photography
and software have given the artist the opportunity to expand on
his ideas and body of work. This exhibition encompasses both traditional
photography and abstract collages.
O'Connor employs unique backgrounds of graffiti, flowers, and
bold colors in his compositions. Flea markets and antique stores
were searched for interesting and meaningful images to include
in his collages. Images are either scanned or photographed and
arranged into vibrant and overlapping compositions.
