Artists' Guild of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, SC, Features Works by Els Balsa
The Spartanburg Artists' Guild Gallery, located in The Spartanburg Arts Center in Spartanburg, SC, will feature an exhibit by Els Balsa, entitled, Summer Expressions, on view from June 3 - 28, 2007.
Balsa, born in London, England, attended the Central School of Arts & Design in London and studied printmaking at the Toledo Museum of Art. She worked for 10 years as a commercial artist in textile and wallpaper design in England and Germany.
Balsa became a citizen of the United States in 1977 and has lived in South Carolina since 1978. Her work has been purchased by banks and hospitals in the Greenville, SC, and Spartanburg areas and by private collectors.
"Painting for me is color, natural landscapes, light and shades to the characters of the mediums I love," Balsa said of the 18 pieces in the exhibit that include oils, pastels, acrylic, and watercolors.
