Tricia McKellar
Tricia McKellar is fascinated by natural patterns, man's machines, and the everyday junk around us. Collected images of machines, insects, vintage photographs, technical drawings, kitschy junk, and natural patterns form a soup of design and chance. McKellar's works often wrestle with a reoccurring theme: How does all of the stuff of our lives fit together? Is it a neat equation? How do chance and chaos contribute to our circumstance?
McKellar is a self-taught artist. She lives with her husband and daughter in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Susan Parrish
Susan Parrish works primarily in clay, but
her first expressions in an artistic medium were in acrylic paint.
When she began to paint with underglazes on her clay forms a few
years ago, she was led back to her artistic beginnings in painting.
For the last few years she has been exploring painting in acrylics
simultaneously with her work in clay. In this show she strives
to present work in both mediums that present a similar feel, using
texture, color, and lines to accomplish this.
After having worked on wheel-thrown clay for twenty years, making
functional ware, Parrish's work began a complete transformation
in 2000. Her newer clay works are sculptural, painterly, and completely
handbuilt. In this short period of time, her work has been included
in a number of shows around the United States, as well as corporate
and private collections. Her work has also been published in several
books and ceramic and fine craft publications.
