Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Members of The Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild
The Deerpark Restaurant on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibit, Our Environmental Mission, featuring works by members of The Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild (SAPG), on view through July 30, 2007.
The Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild takes a pro-active stance on environmental issues. We respect our environment and accept the role of guardian with the utmost pride and care. In fact, we take this role so seriously, that ten percent (10%) of all net profits are donated to organizations whose mission is to help preserve our natural world so it can be enjoyed by generations to come.
This 10% of net profits generated by the Biltmore Estate exhibit will be donated to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). Their Asheville Field office is located at the Grove Arcade in Asheville.
The Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild is a select group of premier photographers who are second to none in their quest for excellence. All our members are seasoned professionals who not only demonstrate superior photographic skill, but subscribe to the highest code of professional and ethical standards.
Our membership is by invitation only. Current members include Susan Stanton, Les Saucier, Jeffrey Miller, Don McGowan, Bill Lea, William A. Smith and Stewart Stokes.
SAPG not only offers fine art photographic prints, but we accept commissioned assignments for nature, portrait, advertising and studio work. We also offer stock photography and usage rights for publication. Our members are experienced teachers and we offer a wide variety of workshops, ranging from an afternoon, weekend to a week long course of instruction.
:I moved to the Asheville region because its beauty offered a nature photographer unlimited image possibilities," says Susan Stanton. "As a photographer, I depend on places such as The Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah & Nantahala National Forests, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, DuPont State Forest and other national and state preserves for my livelihood. In return, I felt a deep need to give back to these places not only in volunteer work, but monetarily as well. My vision was to assemble a group of photographers who were the best in their craft, and who shared the same responsibility to the environment as I. Hence, the Southern Appalachian Photographers Guild was born."
