June Issue 2008
Lark & Key Gallery in Charlotte,
NC, Features Works by Catherine Rains
Lark & Key and Boutique in Charlotte, NC, presents Full Circle, an exhibit featuring the work of Catherine Rains, on view from June 6 - 29, 2008.
Catherine Rains (formerly Catherine Holmes) creates mixed media, 3-D, digital collages that convey a universal spiritual message, encouraging others to pursue their highest good and fondest dream. Each piece has a personal meaning but viewers may easily translate them to become stories of their own.
Rains began exploring art in her late thirties while searching for a way to relieve stress from her career as a college counselor. Remembering the joy of collage as a child, she started ripping up old catalogues and created her first collage in 25 years. She continued making child-like collages for the thrill of it and after taking an art class realized this passion was more than a hobby. Rains began to envision a future pursuing art as a vocation and in 2001 started selling her work and exhibiting in galleries and juried competitions.
A passion for art has also led Rains to teach various collage workshops in which she shares her techniques and encourages others to unleash their inner voice.
