Live Oak Emporium in Ridgeville, SC, Features Works by Louisiana Artist
The Live Oak Emporium in Ridgeville, SC, will
be featuring the works of Louisiana artist Barbara Steele Thibodeaux
from July 25 through Sept. 1 in the Emporium's Main Gallery. The
exhibition entitled, Dreams of Southern Comforts, is a
delightful collection of contemporary folk art paintings.
Thibodeaux holds a degree in interior design, and is a self taught
artist with a naive style that draws deeply from the wellspring
of the rich cultural heritage of her native home in the deep south.
Scenes from the past... American primitive portraits, biblical
verses and the old south are recurrent themes. Thibodeaux's meticulous
attention to detail and willingness to communicate on the life
and times of the people and artifacts that intrigue, have contributed
to her growing stature as an accomplished artist of the folk art
genre.
Collectors of her work range from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and China. Her work is also currently displayed at America. Oh Yes! in Washington, DC, and various galleries throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and the Netherlands.
