Works by Two WNC Artists at Tryon Arts Center in Tryon, NC

Tryon Painters and Sculptors in Tryon, NC, are hosting a joint exhibition of works by Ina DeRuocco and Nancy Currie Moore at Gallery One in the Tryon Fine Arts Center through July 24.

DeRuocco, a resident of Brevard, NC, works in mixed aquamedia, and Moore, of Pisgah Forest, NC is a watercolor artist. Both are members of the Fine Arts and Crafts Cooperative, "#7", in Brevard.

According to DeRuocco "The experience of making an idea, a vision, a thought, or a feeling take shape on what was once just a blank piece of paper is a wonder and a joy!" She works primarily in mixed aquamedia, including acrylic, watercolor, and gouache, but will often add touches of pastel, inks, pencils, or any other media that might enhance the painting. Her work is rich in style and color, with a varied subject matter. She recently received a Regional Artist Project Grant from the NC Arts Council to enable her to produce Giclée prints of her work.

Moore spent most of her adult life in the suburbs of Chicago, although she was born in Alabama. She has been a resident of western North Carolina for fifteen years. She enjoys painting "the old ways" of the South; old houses, old quilts, old china, the folksiness and beauty of the Appalachian mountains. She also paints life size murals for interior design. Moore paints every day, teaches classes, and demonstrates her style to various organizations. She is a member of the NC Watercolor Society, the Transylvania Arts Council, the Art League of Henderson County, and an Associate Member of the American Watercolor Society.
