Visit the premier galleries to view works from national and local artists from traditional to contemporary, historic and current. The Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association was formed in 1998 to expand the world's knowledge of the arts and art market in Charleston. Having been an artists' destination for centuries, Charleston began its draw as an art collector's treasure chest in the very early 20th century with the beginnings of the Charleston Renaissance. This wonderful source and resource has grown steadily over the years with a tremendous boom in the last ten years. Formerly known for "tourist art," today Charleston is recognized as an artists' haven with discriminating collectors following suit.
Currently all CFADA galleries are in Charleston's historic district - come wander through the hallowed streets or ride the rickshaws available for the Fri. evening receptions. Galleries include: Bernie Horton Gallery, Carolina Galleries, The Charleston Renaissance Gallery, Coleman Fine Art Gallery, Eva Carter Gallery, John C. Doyle Art Gallery, Margaret Petterson Gallery, Martin Gallery, Smith-Killian Fine Art, and Wells Gallery.
From the first pastel artist in America, Henrietta Johnson, Charleston resident from 1708-1729, through the Charleston Renaissance of the first half of the twentieth century, to the artists of today, this city remains the home and destination of innumerable artists, works of art, and fine art collectors. Come and see why.
Special accommodations packages are offered by Charleston Place/Orient Express and the Maverick Southern Kitchens.
