July Issue 2002
Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, Features Works by Three Area Artists
The three talented artists whose work has been appreciated in the Randolph County area for decades will be showcased in an exhibit in Asheboro, NC, called Mike Mike Lenton at the Moring Arts Center. The three artists are Mike Durham, Mike Mahan and Lenton Slack. This will be a show of pots and paintings, pots by the two Mikes and paintings by Lenton. Show dates are July 1 through July 31, 2002.
Mike Durham teaches ceramics at Southwestern Randolph High School and has taught at Randolph Community College as well. His work is inventive and colorful and stretches the limits of the materials he uses.
Mike Mahan operates "From The Ground Up Pottery" in Robbins, NC, and formerly operated Wild Rose Pottery in Seagrove, NC. Mahan has been producing exceptionally exciting work recently.
Lenton Slack is not only a painter but also the dean of interior design in Randolph County. He was the head of the Interior Design Department at Randolph Community College and is now, in retirement, busier than ever with his own design business.
