Transylvania County Arts Council in Brevard, NC, Presents the 30th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Showcase
Come home to Brevard, NC's 30th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Showcase! On July 4, from 10am-6pm, more than thirty artists and crafters from across the region will converge on Main Street in downtown Brevard to display their original, hand-crafted wares in wood, fiber, clothing, jewelry, metalwork, furniture, pottery, basketry, gourds, bonsai, photography, and more.
For the second year in a row, the Showcase will be held on West Main Street in conjunction with the Heart of Brevard's 4th of July Celebration. At last year's event thousands of people flocked to downtown Brevard for the Fine Arts and Crafts Showcase, musical performances, races, children's activities, the antique car show, food and more. At this year's event the Western North Carolina Wagon Train will pass through and there will be a climbing wall too. Then at 9:30pm there's the annual fireworks display just down the street at Brevard College to wrap up the fun at the end of the day.
"When visitors reach downtown Brevard, the Fine Arts and Crafts Showcase will be easy to find," said Transylvania County Arts Council representative Jenny Quinn. "When the Arts Council joined its Showcase with the 4th of July Celebration last year, we wanted to retain the identity of this time-honored event in some way, so amidst all the red, white and blue, our block was decorated with yellow and purple. This year we'll still be displaying those colors again but we'll be adding some red, white and blue to share in the patriotic spirit. It should prove to be quite an interesting palette."
Artists and crafters juried into this year's Showcase include: Aaron Harden of Black Mountain, NC; Catherine Murphy of Asheville, NC; Paula Patane of Brevard, NC; Cynthia Strain of Highlands, NC; Jeff Brunelle of Brevard, NC; Nataliya Olrech of Brevard, NC; Jewel Kichak of Cary, NC; Eugene Ray of Fairview, NC; Jennifer Halli of Taylors, SC; Sonia Arnold of Brevard, NC; Marlene Gaffney of Lake Worth, FL; Glenn and Karen Banning of Horseshoe, NC; Barbara Williams of Pisgah Forest, NC; Bruce Rosen of Millers Creek, NC; Ed Wieland of Hendersonville, NC; John and Jeanne Tempest of Brevard, NC; Jane Nuthall of Brevard, NC; Rita Callaway of Pisgah Forest, NC; Evelyn Ward of Durham, NC; Jim Stein of Horseshoe, NC; Karen Dittman of Brevard, NC; Carol Weeks and Dave Goldman of Pisgah Forest, NC; Dave Johnson of Waynesville, NC; Patti Caldwell of Canton, GA; Dona Barnett of Fairview, NC; Tracy Mae Kilpatrick of Wilmington, NC; Karen Bowman of Leicester, NC; Mary Crawford of Franklin, NC; and Jessie Hopson of Swannanoa, NC; Leftwich Folk & Art Pottery of Horseshoe, NC; Lucinda Pittman of Asheville, NC; Jeanne Peterson of Canton, NC; and Bobbie Rafferty of Tuscaloosa, AL.
