Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawley's Island, SC, Offers Annual Antique Map Show
The Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawley's Island, SC, will open its Annual Antique Map and Chart Show on July 15. The special exhibition will feature vintage maps and charts of local and regional interest, as well as a number of highly decorative double hemisphere world maps. Over 30 maps will be on exhibit with many more available for visitors to study and enjoy. The exhibit will be on view through Aug. 15, 2003.
Maps will date from the 17th to the 20th century. Many of the maps and charts are copper plate engravings; some black and white, others hand colored, and highly decorative. A number of old maps from the late 19th century locate plantations and places of interest throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Some of the maps featured are on loan from private collections, others are for sale.
