Silver Fox Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, Offers Works by Patricia Cole-Ferullo
A solo exhibition of Patricia Cole-Ferullo's work from over the past 35 years opens on July 1, at the Silver Fox Gallery in Hendersonville, NC. The exhibit entitled, A New Day, will be on view through July 31, 2005.
"Cole-Ferullo's early work," said Carol Beth Icard, gallery fine art coordinator, "shows the contrast, abstraction and intuition that later evolves into work that is suffused with emotion, light and explosions of color."
"Her masterful ability to meld form with feeling is perhaps what is most remarkable about her art," Icard said.
"Pat's works, which are sometimes complex, have the feeling of simplicity and effortlessness," Icard continued. "In her latest work, she accomplishes her communication in a fresh, new way with fewer brush strokes and fewer lines."
The exhibit shows early work from the collection of the artist that is characterized by this same minimalism.
Cole-Ferullo works primarily in what she calls "life-friendly" media, such as watercolor, gauche, colored inks and powdered earth pigments. She often incorporates text into her abstract works. Representational forms emerge from her abstract work, as human figures and landscapes.
A native of Fairmont, WV, Cole-Ferullo has exhibited in numerous juried shows, consistently winning national awards, since her graduation from Florida State University with a BA in Fine Art. In addition to memberships in artist guilds and societies, she is a signature member of the Society of Layerists in Multimedia and the International Society of Experimental Artists. She lives and works in Tryon, a village in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, historically the location of an artist colony.
