July Issue 2005
Waterfront Gallery in Charleston Features Works by Joanne Evans
Waterfront
Gallery in Charleston, SC, will feature works by Joanne Evans
through July 31, 2005.
Evans has again been chosen as one of Early American Life
magazine's Top 200 Artisans for the second year in a row. Her
work was chosen for her authenticity in creating 17th century
style oil paintings. Nationally recognized judges for this
national competition have included Henry Joyce, Chief Curator
at the Shelbourne Museum in Vermont; Carolyn Weekley, Director
of the Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and DeWitt Wallace
of Decorative Arts Museum, both of Colonial Williamsburg, and
Aimee Newell, Curator of Fine Art at Old Sturbridge in Massachusetts.
Evans' representation of 17th century fine art carefully follows
the tradition of the period, using color, light, texture, composition,
balance, and intricate detail to capture the enduring beauty of
nature. Her work can be seen everyday at Waterfront Gallery
in Charleston or on her website at (www.joanneevans.com).
