Art Galleries in Brevard, NC, Offer Monthly Gallery Walks
Brevard, NC, joins art communities around the country in offering residents and visitors a monthly art gallery walk. The Art of Brevard galleries and art spots in the downtown area will present their first 4th Friday Gallery Walk on July 28 from 5pm to 9pm. All downtown galleries are participating in what will be a monthly event the 4th Friday of the month through Dec., 2006.
Tammy Hopkins, Executive
Director of Transylvania Arts Council, says, "Gallery Walks
are a wonderful way to bring the galleries in a community together
to showcase regional and national artists. We hope the addition
of Gallery Walks will benefit all of downtown."
The galleries participating are Bluewood Gallery, Drew Deane Gallery,
Gallery on Main, Hollingsworth Gallery, King Street Heat, Number
Seven Fine Arts and Crafts Gallery, Red Wolf Gallery, Transylvania
Arts Council Gallery and the Tinsley Museum. All galleries
will have individual events at their locations.
Internationally recognized artist, Ann DerGara, owner with her husband, Tom Cabe, of Red Wolf Gallery, sees the Gallery Walk as a welcome cultural addition to the area. "Brevard has been climbing the cultural ladder through the years - now its taken another step up" says DerGara. DerGara's work has been featured recently in the 2006 HGTV Home in Lake Lure, NC.
The Brevard art community welcomes residents and visitors in what will be an on-going cultural event in Brevard. Attendees are encouraged to make an evening of it and visit the local restaurants before, during and after the tour of galleries. Brochures with a map are available at participating galleries.
