The Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, Offers Works by Claire Farrell

The paintings of South Carolina artist Claire Farrell will be featured in the exhibit, Claire Farrell - Summer Paintings, on view at The Cheryl Newby Gallery from July 1- 29, 2006. Thirteen new oils by Farrell will be on view at the gallery in Pawleys Island, SC.

Widely known for her lowcountry landscapes, Farrell was born in Charleston, SC, graduated from Duke University in 1962, and received a Masters degree in Art from The University of South Carolina. Her works have been exhibited regionally and throughout the US.

Summer Paintings, will include coastal and lowcountry landscapes as well as some figurative works. 'My favorite landscape subjects are the creeks, rivers and marshes of the lowcountry. I am not concerned about rendering the details about a particular place, but I am much more interested in capturing a mood or a feeling of coastal areas in general. Of special interest to me are the moments just before sunset or soon after sunrise when land masses and tree forms tend to loose all detail and the light from the sky is full of color," says Farrell.
