UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Shirley McLaughlin
Through July 28, 2006, WNC Perspectives, featuring an exhibition of 20 photographs by Asheville artist Shirley B. McLaughlin, will be on view at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery in Asheville, NC. The color, digital, and hand-tinted black-and-white photographs depict the flora and fauna of Western North Carolina.
McLaughlin's interest in photography began in childhood under the instruction of a family friend. Later she studied photography while earning a degree in art education from Western Carolina University. McLaughlin, who also holds advanced degrees in library science and education administration from Appalachian State University, served as head librarian and director of the Learning Resource Center at A-B Tech for nearly 30 years.
