Beaufort Art Association in Beaufort, SC, Features Works by Rose Harrison
The Beaufort Art Association in Beaufort, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Painting the World Through Rose-Colored Glasses, featuring works by Rose Harrison, on view at the Beaufort Art Association Gallery through Aug. 4, 2007.
A postgraduate career in clinical psychology led Harrison to her private practice treating survivors of emotional or physical trauma. Art therapy "helped her patients process feelings of frustration and helplessness and 'speak' about unspeakable things."
Harrison says that she has always been extremely nearsighted, and as a young child -before getting her first pair of rose-tinted glasses at age six - she, "saw the world as a watercolor painting: lots of soft edges, blended details and none of the harsh realities of life." Her goal is to find the midpoint between realism and impressionism. Her paintings have been described as "peacefully exciting."
