Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC, Features Works by Doug McAbee and Artists of ArtBomb

The hip ArtBomb artists' cooperative in Greenville, SC, is taking their show on the road to the Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC. The exhibit, ArtBomb: 13 from Greenville, will be on view from July 6 through Aug. 18, 2007. The exhibit, Doug McAbee: Drawings, will also be on view at the same time period.

The artists of ArtBomb are Joseph Bradley, Diane Kilgore Condon, Paul Flint, Jo Carol Mitchell-Rogers, Teri Pena, Alexia Timberlake, Katie Walker and Paul Yanko, painting; Alexis Deal-Unfried, jewelry; Greg Flint, mixed media; Mary Beth O'Connor, mixed media and photography; Rebecca Stockham, photography; Susan Young, ceramic sculpture.

The ArtBomb was a dream come true for Diane Kilgore Condon who bought the historic Brandon Mill General Store in west Greenville, SC, in 2002. She and her artist friends renovated the entire building to house studios, an art gallery and a garden for veggies and flowers. Although not generally open to the public, the group hosts innovative exhibits in the spring and fall which are major social events.

Also at the Upstairs is Doug McAbee: Drawings. The well-known sculptor from Spartanburg, SC, has completed a new series of colorful ink drawings which convey quirky messages.

An "Walk & Talk" tour of the art will be offered on July 15, 2007, at 2pm.
