July Issue 2008

ArtSource Five Points in Raleigh, NC, Offers Exhibit for the Dogs

Rebecca Rousseau

Animal lovers take note! From July 1 through Aug. 1, 2008, ArtSource Five Points in Raleigh, NC, will present Dog Days of Summer, an animal-themed art show dedicated to our beloved animal companions. Select gallery artists including Bunny Matthews, Rebecca Rousseau, Clinton Duncan and others have rendered depictions of man's best friend in a variety of different styles and mediums. Abstracted pooches, impressionistic hounds, and realistic felines abound!

By hosting Dog Days of Summer, ArtSource is trying to raise awareness of the needs of the SPCA of Wake County and the plight of unwanted animals during the SPCA's busiest time of year. According to the SPCA of Wake County, the summer months are nicknamed "puppy and kitten season" because the shelters are overrun with litters of unwanted animals. ArtSource is helping to combat this epidemic by donating a minimum of 5% of the proceeds from the exhibition to the SPCA of Wake County to help with the opening of their new spay/neuter clinic, which opens mid-August 2008.  Come out and celebrate amazing animals and help to support a good cause. In short, ArtSource has literally gone to the dogs.
