DownTownes Gallery in Greenville, SC, Features Photos by Polly Gaillard
Moment of Inertia: Portraits of Adolescent Girls by Polly Gaillard opens at the DownTownes Gallery in Greenville, SC, Aug. l7 and runs through Oct. 6. Gaillard's black and white portraits of girls ages 13 -18 will be featured along with excerpts from interviews, quotes and poetry from the girls. Gaillard attempts to give girls a voice on a range of topics from teen pregnancy, drugs and body image to sports and self-esteem. The images, confrontational in style, use subtleties in body language and expression to demonstrate the power and mystery of adolescent girls.
Gaillard, a native Greenvillian, lived in the
San Francisco Bay area for the past eight years where she began
to photograph and exhibit her work on adolescent girls.
