Tryon Arts Center in Tryon, NC, Features Exhibition of Abstract Works
Tryon Painters and Sculptors will host a joint
exhibit of abstract works entitled, Line - Shape - Color,
at the Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, on view through Aug.
14, 2001.
The artists include Bobby Coleman, Hertha Flack-Monroe, Jeanne
H. Parker, Maxine Tatreau, and Barbara Timmerman, who are all
members of Tryon Painters and Sculptors.
Bobby Coleman is basically a self-taught artist, although she has studied with local artists since moving to Tryon eight years ago. She says, "Painting is my love. I enjoy life more losing myself in my work."
Hertha Flack-Monroe has painted for over 25 years and has had several successful one-person shows. She has also participated in group shows in NC, SC, Massachusetts, Vermont, Colorado and New Jersey.
Jeanne H. Parker
Jeanne H. Parker studied at Oberlin College, the Art Institute of Chicago, the North Shore Art League, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Creative Workshop of the Memorial Art Gallery. As a painter, whether acrylics, oils, or other media, she expresses her emotional responses to a subject in the form of an abstract image.
Maxine Tatreau has painted in several media including oil, acrylic, ink and her favorite, watercolor. She has participated in numerous competitive shows and has been featured in many solo exhibits.
Barbara Timmerman has experimented in many media. Pottery was her first field, but more recently she has decided that watercolor and mixed water media was the ideal way of expressing herself. She likes to paint in an experimental manner, combining all the qualities of good composition with color, line, balance and texture to create a pleasing painting.
