Art Institute of Charlotte Gallery in Charlotte, NC, To Feature Work by Sherri Wood
In Charlotte, NC the Art Institute of Charlotte
Gallery's next exhibit will be Sherri Wood's Tattoo Baby Doll
Project. The exhibit runs August 5-30, 2002.
Sherri Wood focuses on "domestic and traditionally feminine
forms of expression and decoration, such as quilt making, embroidery,
crochet and sewing. Wood says, "My current aesthetic interests
are focused on the objects and practices of domestic pop culture
as vehicles (language) for recognizing buried and scattered patterns
of meaning, paradigmatic shifts and the course of transformative
passage (transition)." Her work has been exhibited in the
San Francisco Museum of Craft & Folk Art, Modern Electric
in Jersey City, NJ, Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito,
CA, and across NC.
