August Issue 2005
The Frame Shop and Gallery Art Café in Rock Hill, SC, Features Works by Pressly Hall
Pressly Hall Photography of Chester, SC, takes a sabbatical from advertising images and portraits to mount a lighthearted collection of photographs dubbed Animalism. The exhibit is a photographic collection of color and black and white images. Mounted artistically upon wood, the portraits, an array of domestic and wild animals, are light and inspiring, lending well to the eclectic atmosphere of the Art Café. The exhibit will be on display through Aug. 31, 2005.
Pressly Hall is a portraitist whose medium
is photography. She portrays life through her own eyes and the
eyes of those who commission her work. Her portrayals encompass
people, places, things, and abstractions that come her way in
the course of a day, a commissioned job, or a pointed documentary
exploration.
Whether it is a portrait of a custom built designer kitchen or
the important first portrait of a child, Pressly draws on her
life experiences to make outstanding portrayals of her subjects.
These life experiences include a childhood spent growing up with
nature as a constant backdrop, a higher education studying art,
architecture, humanities, and photography, and four years spent
working in the photo industry of New York City.
Pressly assisted photographers of the highest caliber on countless
advertising and editorial photo shoots in and around New York
City and the United States. Working in this level of photography
with top-notch photographers, art directors, and celebrities honed
her craft and vision to a professional grade. She knows what looks
good.
As the sole proprietor of Pressly Hall Photography since 2000, Pressly maintains an office in her home. Jobs are shot on location. Her work experience is in advertising, editorial, portraits, events, weddings, and birth photography.
Pressly dedicates the show to her husband, D. Pierce Giltner, folk artist and "wood man", stating, "He is my favorite animal and without him there would be no show!"
