University of North Carolina in Asheville, NC, Features Works by John Dickson
UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibition, Intimate Light: Southern Highlands Photography, featuring photography by John Dickson in the Blowers Gallery, from Aug. 8 - 31, 2005. The show portrays images of the mountains, from tight shots of blooming rhododendrons to sweeping landscapes.
Dickson, a mountain native, is largely a self-taught photographer. His photographs of nearly every milepost on the Blue Ridge Parkway have earned critical acclaim and were featured in Scenic Overlook: Blue Ridge Parkway, a group exhibition at the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville. Dickson's work was also included in Mountain to Mountain: Six Photographers Focus on Western North Carolina at the Laurel Gallery in Tryon, NC. This is his fifth solo exhibition. When not behind the lens, Dickson serves as president and CEO of Asheville Savings Bank.
