West End Art Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, Features Works by George Pocheptsov

West End Art Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC will present a featured exhibition of paintings and limited edition prints by child prodigy George Pocheptsov. The works will be on display through Aug. 31, 2005.

George Pocheptsov, or Georgie, as his family and friends affectionately know him, is thirteen years old. At an age where most children have barely graduated from finger paintings, Georgie was drawing jesters, pregnant women, and four-headed giraffes, all in luminescent colors. He started to paint at the age of 17 months, 6 months before he started to talk. His perception of his life is his own. It is a magic world of angels and monsters, birds, animals, and fish, filled with love and happiness.

Completely self-taught, Georgie is often compared by the press as a young Picasso or Chagall. Georgie's paintings have captured the eyes and hearts of many which in turn has generated many articles and invitations to TV shows. Georgie has appeared in many leading magazines including People, Time, Parents, US Art, Art & Antiques, Art News, Architectural Digest, National Geographic, and The Carolinas.  He has also made appearances on The Oprah Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Later Today Show, The Maury Povich Show, and Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus

Internationally, Georgie has been featured on TV programs in London, Paris, Korea, South Africa, Holland, Russia, Japan, and the Ukraine. He has exhibited at the international Art Expo in New York, Atlanta, and California annually since 1998. His work is on display at numerous galleries throughout the US, including Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Washington, DC, Florida, and North Carolina. Georgie was commissioned to do a 3-dimensional painting for the United Nation's 60-year anniversary show. He was also invited to be the art director for a Hollywood movie. A documentary movie about Georgie, Brash With Destiny, recently won an Emmy award. During the last eight years, Georgie has been commissioned to do paintings for Colin Powel, Hillary Clinton, Celine Dion, Michael Jordan, Britney Spears, and Alan Ducasse.

Picasso once said that, as a child, he could paint like an adult, but it took him a lifetime to paint like a child. For many art experts, Georgie is, without question, a child prodigy. Regardless, this young man has a unique and exceptional talent.

The exhibit will feature 16 limited editions on paper, 3 limited editions on canvas, 2 hand-embellished limited editions on canvas, and 5 originals. Please join us for this magical exhibition of unique talent.
