Blue Ridge Arts Center in Seneca, SC, Features Jewelry and Glass Exhibit
The Blue Ridge Arts Center in Seneca, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Eye of the Beholder, featuring a jewelry and glass invitational show, on view through Sept. 2, 2007.
Event chairperson, Jeanne van den Hurk, a talented jewelry maker originally from Asheville, NC, has worked hard to find the right mix of artists for this exhibit. Ken Turk from Starr, SC, an accomplished glassblower that works with recycled material, will exhibit a number of his outstanding pieces. Seneca's own Sarah Gail Richards, whose stained glass work was recently on display at the Amsterdam-Whitney Gallery in New York, will be spotlighted in the show as a tribute to her life's work.
Other artists in jewelry to join the exhibit include BRAC members John Ishler, Herb Jones, and Lisa Kiser. Chuck Schroeder, who recently moved here from California, will show his lost wax cast and cabochon creations. Silversmith artist Trish Stalb of Central, SC, will exhibit her jewelry, and completing the exhibit will be two avante garde jewelers, Cathryn Rice of Greenville, SC, with lamp work glass jewelry and J'aime Wisavakornsakow of Asheville, NC, who works in silver and mixed media.
Visitors to the exhibit are encouraged to become "beholders" of these unique works of art, with the exhibit constantly changing as pieces are purchased and replaced.
