The Gallery at Carillon in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Darren Goins

The Gallery at Carillon in Charlotte, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Darren Goins: Holiday Work, on view through Oct. 17, 2008. Objects and symbols are shaped from experiences of childish glee, longings and the mystery of emotional ties. The settings created within the large canvases generate re-interpretations of nonlinguistic meaning.

Charlotte artist, Darren Goins received his BFA this year in Photography and Printmaking from University of North Carolina. In 2007, he was included in the 2nd Annual Launched Juried Exhibition at the McColl Center for Visual Art; won Best in Show in the 2008 Annual Juried UNCC Exhibition and will have a one-person show at Waterworks Gallery in Salisbury, NC this fall.

"Through my art I attempt to erode the conventional meaning of symbols to reveal how representation is by defection - open and in process", states Goins." Each and every conventional meaning is challenged by its history, culture, and the related human sensations."

This particular body of work, Holiday Work, puts forth examples of these challenges of celebration symbols and iconography.

The exhibition is sponsored by Hines Charlotte Carillon LP.
