Birdhouse Blitz at the Pickens County Museum in Pickens, SC
They're back and they're better than ever before! The Fourth Annual Celebrity Birdhouse Show & Sale is on again at the Pickens County Museum of Art & History in Picken, SC. From Sept.1 through Sept. 29 visitors can peruse and bid on this entertaining collection of "birdhouses" representing the heritage, humor, pride and promise of our region. The exhibit will end on Sept. 29 with a gala "Auction Party", to benefit the Pickens County Museum.
Thirty-six artists, craftspersons, politicians, business and community leaders, beauty queens and bird lovers have donated 38 of the most outstanding "birdhouses" you may have ever seen. Included in that list are Local Officials, Community & Business leaders Dan & Kathy Brazinski, educator Carol Coke, incoming Pickens County Clerk of Court LeJette Gatlin and a family effort from SC State Representative Al Robinson.
This year's artist & craftsperson's roster includes Martha Betterin, Russell Biles, Susan Bridges-Smith, Allen Coleman, Pati English, Tom Flowers, Kenneth Fugate, Cliff Grossenbaugh, Griz & Helen Hockwalt, Lewis Holloway, Roderick Jackson, Phalba Jeanes, Marjan Kluepful, Bob Lipscomb, Cecile L. K. Martin, Gale McKinley, Maggie Moran, Mark Mulfinger, Deborah Pagano, H. Wayne, Jim & Patty Turner.
Also featured this year will be "birdhouses" from journalist and arts writer Ann Hicks, Pickens County's Mile Creek Park Superintendent Dale Powell, Pickens County Recycling's Rick Reeves & Russell Bunn, Clemson's Bob Campbell Geology Museum Director Carolyn Rose Rebbert and a couple of very special contributions from "The Fiddler's Three" and the "Weasel Creek String Band".
Last but certainly not least, a very special Gold Dome birdhouse built by master craftsman Phil Williams is available courtesy of South Carolina Governor Jim Hodges.
Plan now to attend the exhibitions closing
Auction Party at 7pm on Friday, Sept. 29, from which the highest
bidder, maybe you, can leave with their chosen birdhouse in hand.
