Works by Molly B. Right at Portfolio Art Gallery in Columbia, SC
Portfolio Art Gallery, located in the Five Points area of Columbia, SC, is presenting an exhibit of works by Charleston, SC, artist, Molly B. Right, during the month of September.
Right is a self-taught artist. Educated as a horticulturist, she worked as a grower, designer and greensman on films before becoming an artist. Her first paintings were done on rustic 30-gallon galvanized cans that were used for potting young trees. Right quickly realized that painting held more excitement for her and she gave up horticulture to pursue her art full time.
Right's art brings the viewer a unique feel of the natural world through her expressive animal portraits and adds interest by using offbeat items such as kitchen stoves and rosaries. Her illustrations are fun, creative and full of character.
Right's work was included in a successful exhibit
during this year's Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals, held
in Charleston. She has also been involved in group exhibits at
the Footlight Players Theatre Gallery, in Charleston, and a solo
exhibition at the City Gallery, the official gallery of the City
of Charleston.
