Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawley's Island, SC, Features Works by Joseph Cave

The Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, will be featuring the oil paintings of Georgetown, SC, artist, Joseph Cave, during the month-long Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. The special exhibit entitled, Recent Works by Joseph Cave, will be on view to the public through Sept. 30, 2003, and will include florals, interiors, harbor views, and the exquisite boat paintings for which Cave has become so well known. Sixteen paintings will be exhibited. 

Cave, a native of Columbia, SC, attended the University of Georgia (Athens, GA) where he studied painting from 1954-58. He also studied and received undergraduate and graduate degrees in painting and printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, and San Francisco State University. Trained as an abstract expressionist, he has been invited to exhibit his paintings in numerous one-man shows throughout the United States and abroad. He has taught at several institutions including The Memphis Academy of Art, Southwestern College in Memphis, TN, San Francisco Art institute, and San Francisco State University.
 
After spending a number of years living and painting in Portugal, Cave returned to the Carolinas. Cave now lives in Georgetown with his wife, Jessica, and is represented exclusively in the area by the Newby Gallery.
