Sanctuary Art Studio & Galleries in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Rusk Masterton & Gallery Regulars
Sanctuary Art Studio & Galleries in
Charlotte, NC's historic NoDa Art District offers, Painted
Driftwood Creations, featuring works of painted driftwood
by Rusk Masterton and Destination To Be Determined Upon Arrival,
featuring works by the gallery's artists. Both exhibitions will
be on view from Sept. 5 through Oct. 1, 2003.
In, Painted Driftwood Creations, local artist Rusk
Masterton transforms small pieces of driftwood collected during
his summer lake vacations into fantastical and comical creatures
without altering their natural structure. The finished art often
resembles spiritual totems or South American Folk art. Brightly
colored fish, winking devils, featherless birds and other oddities
abound in this fun and imaginative collection.
Destination To Be Determined Upon Arrival consists of contemporary paintings, photographs and mixed-media art. Artists on display include gallery regulars and one artist new to this gallery but a long-time favorite in NoDa; Mike "Tryke" Bozart, with his oddly compelling and surrealistic mixed-media work, is a welcome addition to the Sanctuary roster and he will have two new pieces on display. Regulars, or "irregulars" as some are known, include Jerry Lee Kirk, Raed Al Rawi, C. Frank Haas, Randy Crawford, Violeta Moreno, Guy Raymond, Greg Neal, Robert Sebrosky and Tony Java.
