Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Solo Exhibition by Chas Fagan
Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is proud to present Chas Fagan, nationally renowned artist and Charlotte resident in an exhibition of new works from Sept. 5 - 29, 2003.
Fagan is a Yale graduate, nationally known for his portrait work, landscapes and sculptures. Current painting projects include a life size portrait of Mrs. Barbara Bush, and a bronze bust of President Ronald Regan recently dedicated aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Regan.
Fagan's portraits reveal a classic layering technique, while his landscapes are recognized for their dramatic mood and palette. The breadth of Fagan's imagery is considerable, ranging from intimate still lifes of only 8" x 10" to sweeping and dramatic vistas of 3' x 4'.
In addition to shows at other gallery venues, Fagan has been featured with solo exhibitions for seven consecutive years at his resident gallery, Claren Court Studio in Arlington, VA.
Fagan's commissioned oil portraits hang in private and corporate collections in the US and in Europe. Currently underway is a life-size portrait of Speaker Thomas Foley, which will hang in the Agriculture Committee Room in Washington. His portrait of President Ronald Reagan, commissioned by the Reagan Administration, is on permanent exhibition at the Union League Club of New York.
For C-SPAN's 20th Anniversary Television Series, American Presidents: Life Portraits, shown in 1999, Fagan was commissioned to create 41-presidential portraits to compliment the series. To see the portraits, you may visit the official C-Span website at (www.americanpresidents.org/gallery/index.asp).
