Ann Harwell

Cathy Kiffney

Cathy Kiffney has explored the world of clay for over twenty years. She has shown at Artspace in Raleigh and Duke Museum of Art. Depicting narrative scenes involving relief carvings of birds, butterflies, and animals, she reveals an imaginative world. She hand builds the surfaces and carves, stamps and draws in the clay surface, using as many as thirty-five different glazes, slips and lustres to achieve the vibrant surfaces.

Molly Lithgo

Molly Lithgo received an MFA from UNC-Greensboro and an BFA from Atlanta College of Art. She is a ceramic artist as well as a painter, She has shown at Greensboro Artist's League and Arts United for Davidson County. She is fascinated with balancing elements within the clay piece arid also explores textures and color relationships. Her work is animated and playful.

Barry Schultheiss Collection

Showing in Gallery B are exceptional glass paperweights from private collections: Designs Under Glass. Works from the collections of local businessman, Barry Schultheiss (Treasurer of the Paperweight Collector's Association) and Pennsylvania collector Jim Lefever (V-P of PCA) will be featured. From intricate millefiori scrambled to triple overlaid bouquets and from antique to contemporary, these paperweights illuminate all of the finest qualities of the art. Schultheiss has been a collector for over fifteen years and has become enthusiastically involved with artists and collectors across the country.

Nicole Arnold

High Point artist Nicole Arnold is exhibiting original prismacolor illustrations from her recently published children's book, The Reel Thing, in the Hallway Gallery. Ever wonder how to give children something they want AND that's good for them? It's easy to do when the answer is colorful, adventurous children's book art. Add the word "free," and you'll see parents enjoying this exhibition as much as the children.

Nicole Arnold's illustrated children's picture book The Reel Thing: A Story of Hope and Joy was published in the fall of 2002. The bright, colored pencil originals will be showcased in this exhibition. The book is about Charlie, a little boy fisherman who never catches the big fish, but makes many friends through his efforts. Charlie's undeterred, buoyant spirit overcomes his failures and brightens the lives of all who know him.

On Sept. 13, from 1-3pm, TAG will host a free children's workshop in which children will write, illustrate and make their own book.

In addition to illustration, Arnold accepts private commissions to paint pastel portraits. Her work is in many private collections. She has exhibited at Autumn Song Gallery in High Point and will exhibit at Lees McRae College in Mar. 2004. Arnold was born in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from Duke University.

Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery features work from TAG summer camp artists.
