NC Cloth and Clay Exhibit to be Displayed at the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC

The Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, will feature a special exhibition, NC Cloth and Clay, from Sept.12 - 26, 2003. The exhibit will include works from over 15 recognized potters from the Seagrove community and a variety of quilts provided by the Wilkes County Quilt Guild.

Many potters in the exhibition have been featured in national, regional and local exhibitions. Recognized potter Phil Morgan is exhibiting with the group. His mastery of crystalline glazes has awarded him national recognition. Third generation potter Ben Owen is exhibiting works in both a Chinese Red and Chinese Blue Glaze. Dan Treice, owner of Dirtworks Pottery, is recognized for his use of copper luster glazes. When raku fired, his glazes create a copper metallic effect.

Exhibiting potters include: Blaine Avery Pottery, Ben Owen, Dirtworks, David Stemphle, Bull Dog Pottery, Fork Creek Mill, Benjamin Burns of The Great White Oak Gallery, Ground Creations, Jugtown Pottery, Kings Pottery, Johnston and Gentithes Art Pottery, Lantern Hill Pottery, Magnolia Place, Phil Morgan, Tom Gray, Turn and Burn Pottery, Wyndham, Westmoore Pottery, and Whynot Pottery.

Members of the Wilkes County Quilt Guild will be providing fiber works for display throughout the Gallery. Guild members will be exhibiting quilts, wall-hangings and a variety of other fiber art pieces.
