Greenville, SC's Art In The Park Moves to the New Falls Park
The annual Art In The Park festival will be the Grand Opening event for Greenville, SC's new Falls Park built around the Reedy River Falls in the Westend Historic District of Greenville. Now in its 13th year, the festival will move from its former location at the Governor's School to the new downtown park on Sept. 18 & 19, 2004.
Art In The Park
has been recognized as one of the finest outdoor exhibitions of
fine art and fine crafts in the region. Individual artists from
all over the Southeast will exhibit and sell works from their
booths on south Main Street at the entrance to the park. All mediums
will be represented - painting, photography, pottery, jewelry,
fiber, and more. Across the pedestrian suspension bridge, the
large Upstate Visual Arts Member Exhibition will exhibit
the original works of around 200 artists under a large gallery-style
tent. Most works are available for purchase. The Member Exhibition
also includes an indoor Juried Exhibition with $6000 in award
prizes.
Art organizations will also exhibit their work and demonstrate
their various mediums.
A host of special activities are planned for the park's opening
to the public, including tours of the gardens, as well as demonstrations
and performances by artists and musicians. This year, the ever-popular
hands-on children's art area celebrates the Medieval period, introducing
children of all ages to the mystery and pageantry of Medieval
times.
Art In The Park is free to the public! Festival hours are 11am-7pm on Sept. 18, and noon-5pm on Sept. 19. The event is produced by Upstate Visual Arts and the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department. Presented by The Greenville News.
