Columbia College in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Patti Brady and Phil Garrett

Columbia College in Columbia, SC, will present the exhibit, Cross Pollination, featuring works by Greenville, SC, artists Patti Brady and Phil Garrett. The exhibit will be on view in the Goodall Gallery at Columbia College from Sept. 6 through Oct. 8, 2004.

The paintings, prints, and works on paper reference antique botanicals, bouquets, seeds, weeds, and abundant minutiae of natural forms. Brady's extravagant use of materials and applications full of drips, drops, stains, and pours in multiple layers contrasts with Garrett's more minimal and refined contemporary mark-making.

Patti Brady

Brady holds a BFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and was the recipient of a silver award in the 1995 California Discovery Awards. She has exhibited in California, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

Phil Garrett

Garrett has held solo exhibitions in various venues across the Carolinas and has pieces in more than 20 permanent collections from South Carolina to Hawaii. He has won awards in the Springs Annual Juried Exhibition, The Print Club of Philadelphia Annual Competition, and the SC Arts Commission Juried Exhibition.

Columbia College, founded in 1854, is a private, liberal arts, women's college with a coeducational Evening College and Graduate School.
