The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Carol Kronus
The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville,
NC, will present the exhibit, Dance, France and Sumi-E,
featuring works by Carol Kronus. The exhibit will be on view through
Sept. 2004, in the Grace Etheredge Room at Opportunity House,
the Art League's home in Hendersonville.
This show includes both oriental brushwork and semi representational
water media. Kronus offers the following statement about the exhibit,
"I am split between oriental brushwork and western semi realistic
water media. This show includes both of these styles. Besides
the oriental works of bamboo, animals, and bonsai, I have several
pieces of work that were painted on a trip to France in 2001.
These are plein-aire landscapes and scenes of the villages in
the Loire Valley. The third subject of this show combines my love
of painting and dancing (both ballroom and ballet). These pictures
are more experimental, using acrylics, collage, and other techniques
to capture the sense of drama and dynamic movement of dance.
"Art is my second calling after an academic career as a sociologist
and researcher, says Kronus, "I have self-directed my education
over the past 10 years including local watercolor classes and
workshops, books, and art league demonstrations."
Kronus' recent exhibitions include show at the NC Arboretum, an
Art League of Henderson County All Members Show, and an exhibit
in France.
