Ten Artists on Hilton Head Island, SC, Open Their Studios to the Public
On Sept. 18, 2004, ten Hilton Head Art League artists will open their studios to the public. It is an opportunity to see where well-known local artists produce their masterpieces. The artists will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate their techniques. It is a self-conducted tour that you can take at your own pace between the hours of 10am-4pm.
Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at the Hilton Head Art League Gallery in Pineland Station or the Art Academy on Cordillo Parkway. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Hilton Head Art League community outreach programs.
The ten artists are: John Diamond, Vickie Bailey-Ebbers, Candace Lovely, Heidi Fearon, Fran Hubbell, John Norlander, Art Cornell and John Nichols Sheri Farbstein and Alexandra Sharma.
The artists work in a variety of mediums. John Diamond is a wood-turner, Fran Hubbell is a photographer, John Norlander works in oils. Art Cornell, who is also a poet, does photography, mixed medium and acrylic abstracts. Candace Lovely is known for her portrait of former first lady, Barbara Bush.
The studio tour is a rare opportunity to get behind the scenes and delve into the mysteries of creative art, as well as get to know the artists whose work you see in galleries around the area.
The Hilton Head Art League is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts and increasing the art skills of its members. It started in 1972 and has served the community for over 30 years with art events, scholarships for students studying the visual arts, workshops with nationally-renowned instructors, as well as art classes taught by local artists at the Art Academy.
