Rebus Works in Raleigh, NC, Features Print Show
Rebus Works in Raleigh,
NC, is presenting the exhibition, Print Show: 25 +, featuring
prints by several groups of artists working in traditional printmaking
techniques in alternative and traditional formats. The exhibition
will be on view through Oct. 2, 2004.
Highlights of Print Show include works by Mike Houston,
Martin Mazorra and other artists associated with Cannonball Press,
a New York based press whose mission is to produce affordable
black and white prints by surly young artists. Cannonball Press
has been an on-line publishing force since 1999. Their roster
of artists includes: Sean Star Wars, David Rees, Mike Houston,
Alice Helander, David Ellis, and Davin Watne, The Barnstormers
(currently at SECCA in Winston-Salem), Maya Hayuk, Bill Fick,

Works in screen-printing and woodcut medias by Dale Flattum, of
Team Lump, and Ron Liberti, two local rock icons who also design
rock posters, will be displayed. These two artists are featured

Also participating in Print Show are Jen Coon, Louise Zjawin
Francke, Janette Hopper, Delia Keefe, Annette Marsland, Mary Mendell,
Ralph Steeds, and Liz Wolf, eight of the eleven members of the
North Carolina Printmakers Guild, a group of artists and printmakers
who work and teach in North Carolina.
The Guild works individually
in a wide range of print mediums and styles to create hand-pulled
prints. The guild's common goals are creating works using a variety
of printmaking processes, as well as the free exchange of technical

Other participants include Laura Berman, John Dancy-Jones, Carrie
Knowles, Bryce McCloud, Keith Norval, Lesley Patterson, Craig
Peters, IlaSahai Prouty, Eleanor Reuer, Jeremy Taylor (also of
Team Lump), Oliver Wagner, and Asheley Worley. These local and
national artists work in a number of printmaking techniques, producing
landscape etchings, abstract woodcuts, pop hand-screened paintings,
linocuts, collagraphs, bookplates and more.
Print Show fulfills one of Rebus Works main objectives:
to feature artists and their works in printmaking media. The exhibit
is unique in the sheer number and variety of styles and artists
it brings together. Please come
and take part in this exceptional exhibition.
