Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Misty Bennett
The Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Momentum: New work by Misty Bennett, from Sept. 10 through Oct. 29, 2004.
"There is a Zen
idea which allows for the recognition that the mundane is of equal
importance to the spiritual," says Bennett. "It holds
that in the great relation of things there is no distinction between
small and great; an atom possessing equal possibilities within
the universe. Within the realm of my artwork the tiniest, most
minute detail of life is held high, magnified and glorified."
The artists continues, "The physicality of the work, in terms
of structure and scale as well as the way in which the viewer
is pushed and pulled through space alludes to our physical experience
of the world; and the mysterious truth of that experience."
