Smith-Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Jennifer Smith Rogers
Smith-Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibition, Island Retreat - A Sullivan's Island Perspective, featuring new works in oil by Jennifer Smith Rogers from Sept. 24 through Oct. 8, 2004.
Rogers' latest collection takes the viewer through a classic summer day on one of South Carolina's most beautiful barrier islands. The exhibit takes you across the island, showing the full spectrum of summer sunshine beating down on what she calls, "old Sullivan's - in its timeless rustic appeal." There are scenes of afternoon showers on the horizon, of lonely chairs facing the ocean, of dusk coming down across the ocean, and of the moonlight shining on the tin roofs of the bars and restaurants of Middle Street.
"Sullivan's Island has been my retreat since I was a child," says Rogers. "The warm breezes and salt air filter deep into my soul. Whether I am walking the beaches, sampling the restaurants, or just taking a Sunday drive, I am inspired by its simplicity and charming character."
Come and see one artistıs interpretation of a day on Sullivan's Island. Take part in moments of tranquility captured in dazzling colors and alluring brush strokes. Wake up at the beach; feel the night air on the drive back to Charleston. Allow Rogers to take you through "the ever changing skies that dwarf the beach front homes; the inviting porches where I envision rocking with the ocean breezes; and night scenes of locals and tourists gathering for seafood and spirits."
